An article in The Guardian has recently affirmed that Harry Potter remains the best-selling English language book series of all time. With some 450 million copies sold since the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 1997, the Harry Potter books are bested only by the French detective series Maigret, a collection of more than 100 books and short stories published between 1931 and 1972. However, in terms of series written for young adults, Harry Potter’s throne is threatened only by R. L. Stein’s Goosebumps, which have sold upwards of 300 million copies since 1992. Nancy Drew, The Baby-sitters Club, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight round out the list of young adult series that have sold in excess of 100 million books each.
In his spare time, Ethan Bondick enjoys reading, particularly autobiographies of tennis stars like Rafael Nadal and Brad Gilbert and the Harry Potter Series.
